What counts as an emergency
A dental emergency needs treatment the same day: toothache that does not respond to painkillers, swelling of the gum or cheek, a broken tooth with the nerve exposed, a tooth knocked out by an injury, or bleeding after an extraction that does not stop within 30 minutes. A lost filling or a loose crown without pain can wait 1 to 2 days.
